The Baroda Open, a soccer tournament which took place in Baroda, Gujarat, India, provided me with an opportunity to capture aerial footage of soccer matches using my DJI Phantom. This video functions as a proof of concept, demonstrating the unique ways a UAV, specifically a quadcopter, can document a soccer match.
As of its posting, this video is one of the first ever (that I can find) published examples of competitive club soccer matches documented by a quadcopter or any unmanned aerial vehicle. Similarly, during the tournament the Times of India became the first, or one of the first newspapers to print UAV captured aerial photographs in their sports coverage. I made that possible by giving them, free of charge, aerial images (seen below) which they seamlessly integrated into their Baroda Open coverage.
